Safety & Environment Safety

Our goal: zero accidents

We seek to foster a culture of excellence in safety at all of our facilities, with an emphasis on prevention to bring us closer to our ultimate goal of zero accidents

We believe every individual plays a key role in ensuring a safe working environment, which is why we focus heavily on providing the proper training for all employees and contractors. We also regularly conduct risk assessments to identify areas for improvement before an accident can occur.

Our commitment to safety begins at the top with our management team. Our leaders consider safety the first priority in all decision making processes.

While we operate with the conviction that all incidents are preventable, we maintain an extensive emergency management system that ensures Repsol is prepared to handle any issue that may arise.

Process safety

Ensuring the reliability and integrity of our equipment
Process safety is about taking preventative measures to ensure proper operating procedures are followed, dangerous substances are securely contained and all safety critical equipment to properly maintained. Our process safety framework encompasses well-designed and maintained facilities, the right processes to operate these facilities, and competent, trained people.
What we’re doing
We measure process safety and operational integrity management through a number of performance indicators, including unintended hydrocarbon releases and the number of overdue repairs of safety critical equipment.
Although rare, when an incident occurs we move quickly to minimize the impact and undertake a review. We share what we learn from these reviews with others to allow corrections and improvements, and prevent recurrence.
